AWS DeepRacer and expected updates in 2020
2 min read
You may remember our 2019 article on the AWS DeepRacer car, which profiled the machine learning tool and available racing competitions around the world this past year. Competitors from those races were in attendance at this week’s AWS re:Invent summit, which Logic20/20 employees also attended. They sent photos from the championship DeepRacer competition, pictured below.
As we move into next year, we can expect the following changes relating to the DeepRacer car:
Expanded racing league. There will be 8 new in-person races and 18 new virtual races. If competitors were interested in broader types of racing, they’re in luck! Two new race types have been added for this year: Object Detection & Avoidance and Head-to-Head Racing. Last but not least, people can now create their own community races!
New DeepRacer car model. The AWS DeepRacer Evo will feature new technologies like a camera and LIDAR sensor. We have yet to hear a release date, but anyone interested can sign up to hear more information using the AWS DeepRacer Evo Interest List.
