Snapshot

Looking to streamline manual processes and unlock new efficiencies, a global financial institution’s legal department partnered with Logic20/20 to build a strategic path forward for AI adoption. With experience in AI and machine learning already in place, the department saw an opportunity to extend those capabilities through Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and custom builds on its own internal AI platform, focusing on solutions that align with business priorities, uphold data governance standards, and deliver lasting value.

Logic20/20 surfaced and prioritized high-impact use cases, secured alignment across eight divisions, and built compelling business cases to support future implementation. The result is a strategic roadmap that enables secure, scalable AI adoption across legal workflows.

We brought our expertise and experience in:

  • AI strategy
  • Workflow optimization
  • Change management
  • Copilot integration
  • Business case development
  • Secure implementation planning

A mission-driven organization with global legal reach

Our client is a department within a globally focused financial organization that delivers legal expertise in support of policymaking, regulatory development, and economic advancement. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the team provides research, legal analysis, and operational guidance that reflect both the organization’s mission and its evolving global priorities.

Early adoption, limited direction

The legal department was in the initial stages of AI adoption, with limited exposure to generative AI tools and a lack of certainty on how to get the most value from these tools. While some teams had begun experimenting with AI, results were inconsistent, often hampered by:

  • Unclear prompting techniques and lack of guidance on best practices
  • Errors and inaccuracies in generated outputs
  • Uncertainty around which use cases were appropriate for AI

In parallel, knowledge management systems were fragmented, and many legal workflows relied heavily on manual processes. Time-consuming activities—such as document formatting, administrative tracking, and repetitive research—diverted attention from high-value legal work. The department recognized the need for a structured approach to surface the right opportunities, evaluate feasibility, and build alignment across internal stakeholders.

Mapping the path from ideas to implementation

Logic20/20 designed and initiated a six-week engagement that resulted in the identification of over 35 AI use cases across the legal department, grouped into nine strategic categories to align with key operational areas.. The team began by deploying a department-wide survey, followed by stakeholder interviews, to uncover pain points, repetitive tasks, and unmet needs. Insights from eight divisions were evaluated through the lenses of feasibility, business value, and alignment with internal tools and data governance policies.

High-priority use cases span areas such as contract management, legal research, document summarization, and internal knowledge management—each designed to reduce manual effort and improve consistency. A follow-up survey helped the team evaluate each use case based on potential impact, estimated time savings, and frequency of use across divisions, ensuring prioritization reflected both business value and user needs.

To guide the department toward an actionable roadmap, Logic20/20 focused on:

  • Analyzing cross-division AI opportunities grounded in real-world workflows
  • Creating a prioritization framework based on impact and implementation readiness
  • Facilitating collaborative discussions to validate use cases and build alignment
  • Conducting department-wide polling to capture input and drive engagement
  • Developing business cases for the top five AI use cases
  • Providing guidance on how to leverage out-of-the-box AI capabilities to address common pain points identified during the discovery process

Each deliverable supports the department’s goal of moving from experimentation to a unified, strategic approach for AI adoption.

Laying the groundwork for secure, scalable AI adoption

The engagement gives the legal department a clear, actionable foundation for scaling AI where it matters most. By the close of the project, stakeholders will have the tools and clarity needed to advance AI solutions that align with their operational priorities and compliance requirements.

The resulting set of strategic assets —focused on custom AI solutions that extend beyond both Copilot and the organization’s internal AI platform—supports long-term value creation:

  • A detailed heatmap ranking AI use cases by impact and feasibility
  • Detailed business cases tailored for internal approval and investment
  • Quantitative insights on potential time and cost savings
  • Shared alignment on priorities and next steps across all divisions
  • A repeatable framework for identifying future AI opportunities

Together, these outcomes set the stage for confident decision making and sustainable AI adoption, grounded in real needs and supported by enterprise-ready solutions.
