AN EXCERPT FROM “LEANING INTO TRANSITIONING MULTIPLE LEGACY SYSTEMS TO A SINGLE TARGET PLATFORM”
During the course of gathering an understanding of the current state, interviews with stakeholders should also touch on what their thoughts and attitudes are towards the change. Is exciting to them, or are there concerns? Who is interested in helping with PoC review and User Acceptance testing? This is the first chance to identify Service Cloud power users and champions. The decision of which system to transition first needs to include the type of moral and political support as much as how simple or challenging the technical implementation will be.
Build on the buy-in, goodwill, and enthusiasm that a well-managed platform transition planning process will garner by socializing a functionality adoption roadmap. Rather than repeat the processes of gaining agreement and finding new champions with each enhancement project, the roadmap will lock in the support that will be needed as the map is followed.
